Room 15 – Fantaisie Palace through the ages

 

The history of Fantaisie Palace and its park goes back almost 250 years. The Rococo garden of Duchess Friederike Sophie von Württemberg was created from 1763 to 1780. From 1793-1795 Duchess Friederike Dorothee Sophie von Württemberg added a landscape garden in the romantic style. Between 1839 and 1881, under Duke Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander von Württemberg, the mixed or eclectic style was introduced.

Today the palace and gardens, now under a preservation order, are still dominated by features originating from these three phases of their development.
